(We are asking that folks who have been in the kink world for a while respect the newcomers' space from 6:30pm-7:30pm, but please do join us for the class at 7:30pm! Body modification artist, teacher and vendor, Sharrin Spector has been active in the BDSM community for the last 20 years. Her passions include blood, rattan canes and being on the receiving end of excellent service. Sharrin has taught for numerous organizations including Black Rose, Thunder in the Mountains, Dark Odyssey and IMsL. When not traveling, she lives in a non-traditional "poly-cule" in Oakland, CA, does piercing, branding and scarification as she vends at leather events and runs the Cock Farm! pat baillie found the leather community 35+ years ago through the men's leather community in Phoenix, AZ. She retired from the military in 1993, worked as a government contractor for 11 years in New Mexico and is now a profo homo working to make workplace equality a reality for LGBT employees. She is an educator and community leader who has a heart for service and kink! She's a queer boy who lives with her Lady in a "poly-cule" in the California's Bay Area. She became International Ms Leather 1995, served on the Leather Leadership Conference National Board, produced the Rio Grande Leather Event in New Mexico and has been teaching, judging contests and mentoring for years. -------------------- Being new to kink is a time of exploration and discovery; it can also feel a little overwhelming! The NELA Welcome Wagon is for tops, bottoms, switches, and undeclareds. Groups like NEDS and Mob have awesome orientations as part of membership, but folks who aren't necessarily looking to or ready to join a group still can use a friendly face, some helpful hints, and a place to meet other new folks, to ask questions, and to get community information. The NELA Welcome Wagon events at Unity Somerville -- with snacks, presenter, and class topics focused on new folks -- is low-pressure and welcoming. There'll be nice people to meet. There'll be hand-outs with information on local events. And there'll be me, someone who likes trying to answer questions or directing you to someone who has the answer. The NELA Welcome Wagon is also for seasoned kinksters, kinksters who may already have found or created community for themselves, kinksters who know where to go, how to get invited, how they fit into the greater kink world or scene. While seasoned kinksters are asked to not attend the Welcome Wagon until 7:30pm to give the newer folks time to mingle with each other (from 6:30pm-7:30pm), seasoned kinksters are very much invited to attend the class and meet some fresh faces.
